Fit and Forget - Converters and Power Supplies for the Communications, Automotive and Marine Industries
What EU Directives affect the products?
At the moment the PowerVerters are controlled by the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC for "non highway" applications and the Automotive Directive 95/54/EC for "highway" vehicles.
See the question about CE mark and e mark. Also the note about forthcoming directives for "non highway" vehicles.
The PowerMasters are covered by the former two Directives, although there are very few on the road applications, and also the Low Voltage Directive 93/68/EEC which is concerned with safety.
All products are covered by the CE Marking Directive 93/68/EEC which lays down how the CE mark should be applied.
We also keep an eye on the Recreational Craft Directive 94/25/EC. There will soon be new EC Directives covering "off the road" or "non highway" vehicles, such as earth moving, agricultural and forestry vehicles.
Maybe if someone with influence reads this we could appeal for 89/336/EEC to be the only directive, approach the vehicle requirements through the use of international standards and make the CE mark the only mark. Please?
